The Pin The first and only Yiddish feature ever produced in Canada, The Pin is a haunting love story about two young adults hiding out in a barn in Lithuania during the Second World War. Filmmaker Naomi Jaye layers this simple story with rich atmospheric camera work, an eye for sensual detail, and moving performances by the two leads, who were taught to speak an impeccable-sounding Yiddish. “With limited resources and the power of storytelling, [Jaye] has created a small film that feels mainstream and epic” (The New York Times). The Nikibasika Development Program is a home to a small group of vulnerable children in Kasese, Uganda who have been left without family support through poverty, HIV/AIDS or violence. The TriAdventure has become these kids’ primary source of funding for a program that begins with food, shelter and education and aims to help them become self-sustaining citizens who contribute to a vibrant, diverse global community. As of November 2012, Nikibasika development program is now its own registered charity in Canada, BN/Registration Number 853412286RR0001. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Canada Africa Community Health Alliance, who supported us as a sub-project for the first six years of our life.
