We all appreciate the value of Water Safety Skills - setting a good example by wearing a life jacket, knowing how to swim, swimming in pairs and having a lifeguard. We all appreciate the value of Bike Safety Skills - teaching our kids about, and personally adhering to the rules of the road, and making sure they wear a helmet. We all appreciate the value of Road Safety Skills - not stepping out from between parked cars, using the crosswalk, and looking both ways before crossing the street. This does not mean that we need to fear, or teach our children to fear the water, bike paths, or the road, but it does mean we recognize the need to provide some essential instruction to keep them safe.
