From our annual Interfaith Dinner where clergy of all denominations in the city attend, to our Out of the Cold program and Kosher Food Bank, our hesed programs will help you discover how making a better world leads to making better people and Jews. Beth Sholom has long been a leader in community affairs, and a strong advocate of the philosophy that Jewish strength comes from Jewish unity. By hosting and participating in various community events, our membership becomes one with the Jewish community of Canada. With our strong support of a Jewish homeland, we further this unique tie and relationship to the State of Israel. With over 125 people on Christie staff she is busy co-ordinating this fine group of people to be certain they clearly understand their roles and obligations as employees. Charla has an impressive knowledge about care levels and resident needs. She is proud that Christie is seen as the model for retirement home standards and training. Charla finds great satisfaction from the volunteer students who have gone on to serve with excellence in their chosen professions. Charla is celebrating 11 years at Christie Gardens, and it is clear she delights in every day challenges, and sees each day at Christie as new.

We began caring for seniors and enabling seniors to care for themselves in 1983. We continue to do so today as an accredited, not-for-profit community support service agency in Toronto by offering a wide range of practical and low-cost services to seniors and their caregivers. Our services help seniors stay safe, connected, and live as independently as possible, as well as prevent premature or inappropriate institutionalization. We supply services regardless of ability, race, religion, ethnic origin, citizenship, marital status, sexual orientation, or gender identity, and are committed to LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender) inclusiveness. We also co-direct House Calls, a primary care program for frail and homebound seniors, and are the lead agency of Toronto Ride, a Toronto-wide transportation network that provides rides to seniors.
