Holland Bloorview serves about 7,000 children each year, with about 600 inpatient admissions and 52,000 outpatient visits. Holland Bloorview is a world-class teaching hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. We train future health-care specialists in the field of childhood disability. The Bloorview Research Institute is located onsite, allowing us to integrate cutting-edge research and teaching with frontline care to improve children’s quality of life. Our state-of-the-art building has been recognized by the International Academy for Design and Health as “an inspirational building…which speaks to a child’s right to participate in our society.” We see children with cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, muscular dystrophy, amputation, epilepsy, spina bifida, arthritis, cleft-lip and palate, autism and other developmental disabilities. A small number of our clients have complex chronic diseases that require round-the-clock medical care. Holland Bloorview’s storied history tracks back to the last days of the nineteenth century when, thanks to the foresight and determination of a group of Nurses at The Home for Incurable Children, 1904 dedicated women, “The Home for Incurable Children” opened on Avenue Road. Clearly, the evolution of what is now Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital has undergone many dramatic changes through the generations – and nearly as many name changes along the way. What hasn’t changed, though, is the support of a caring and compassionate community whose contributions have helped create a world-class facility that epitomizes our slogan, “From Disability to Possibility.”
Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is highly regarded by many for its exceptional staff and child-friendly environment. Patients and families express gratitude for the supportive and caring attitude of the team. Some suggestions for improvement include extending hours for cafeterias and adding more fruit options to meals. A few reviews mention challenges with sharing rooms and long wait times for certain services.

Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation is proud to partner with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment again to build a second primary school in Jamaica. In 2013, 40 staff members from MLSE donated their time and money to build a school in St. Elizabeth and build a better future for the children and families of that parish. This year, the team has doubled to 75 volunteers who will donate their time to build a school in Montego Bay. Thanks again to our friends at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment. We look forward to seeing old faces and meeting some new on this return trip to Jamaica!
