The Wings of Phoenix Association is a registered charity based in the National Capital Region. The charity was founded in 2001 by Glennis Easey and Dr. Pierre Turgeon, and is dedicated to providing team based brain injury rehabilitation for persons with an acquired brain injury (sports related injury, fall, stroke, aneurysm, anoxia, etc). When Glennis’ husband, Robin, a former Ottawa police officer, was shot in the head in September 1984, Glennis and Dr. Turgeon, who had been a key element during Robin’s journey after head injury, chose to dedicate a huge part of their professional lives to helping others who have sustained injuries to the brain.

February 28th, 2013 CVA The Canadian Vintners Association (CVA) was created in 1975 as the Canadian Wine Institute and renamed in 2000 to better reflect the growth of this dynamic industry. The CVA represents over 90% of all wine produced in Canada including 100% Canadian, Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) wines and International-Canadian Blended (ICB) wine products. The CVA brings together our membership to advocate on public policy initiatives by working cooperatively with governments and other stakeholders to find solutions that benefit both society and the entire Canadian wine industry. The Canadian wine market remains strong, supported by a continuing growth in consumption as Canadians’ beverage of choice. The sales and marketing efforts of Canadian vintners will continue to drive wine sales through all of our trade channels, including estate wineries, provincial and territorial liquor boards, private retail outlets, licensed establishments, and wine agencies. Each year and every vintage will provide an opportunity to launch new products that will contribute to industry growth across all price points in the Canadian wine market.

We are the only independent foundation dedicated to raising funds for palliative care across our region. Our community-based, region-wide mandate means that we are not tied to any particular service, care provider, government or other funding agency, letting us provide support where it is needed most. For the first time in our community, a regional plan outlining improvements in palliative care has been approved. Together, experts, caregivers and service providers from across our region have set out a vision for improvements - a vision that would see palliative care and support available to those who need it, when they need it most. With a plan for change and a commitment to make it happen, momentum is growing. However, there remains a great need for additional resources. This is where the OutCare Foundation can help. We have identified four priority areas where we know additional funding will have an impact on the availability and quality of palliative care in our region, namely: - Providing Care When and Where It is Needed; - Supporting Families, Caregivers and Volunteers; - Connecting People to Information; and - Expanding Knowledge through Education. The OutCare Foundation is dedicated to helping organizations in the palliative care network. All patients and families should receive the care they need, in the setting of their choice for their important end-of-life journey.
