Research in Action Poster sessions during CAEP 2014 in Ottawa The CAEP Research Committee supports the development of emergency-medicine-related research skills across Canada by administering two programs: an annual CAEP Grant Competition and the CAEP Abstract Competition . The CAEP Grant Competition identifies promising research grant proposals from medical students, residents, and junior faculty and awards five grants annually of up to $5000 each. Many of the previous CAEP Grant Winners continue with successful research careers. Research poster and plenary sessions during CAEP 2014 in Ottawa The CAEP Abstract Competition evaluates hundreds of abstracts submitted from across Canada and internationally to be considered for presentation in the CAEP Conference held annually in early June. Submissions to both competitions are carefully evaluated and scored by at least three highly-qualified reviewers. The Research Committee is reliant on these volunteers and appreciates their substantial contribution to support Canadian emergency medicine research. A poster session during CAEP 2013 in Vancouver Research Support Support of the Research Committee efforts requires funding. Generous membership contributions help to support both CAEP Grant Awards and the CAEP Research Awards (for the best abstracts submitted to the abstract competition). Past competitions have been partially supported by corporate funds and administered by the Research Committee. Special Interests The Research Committee also works with and supports special interest research sub-committees and interest group. These groups report annually. Rob Green CAEP Research Committee Chair Questions about the Research Committee can be directed to the Research Manager, Jennifer Artz at jartz@caep.ca (613-523-3343x18).
