Church Overview Since its inception in 1931, First Baptist Church has had a desire to see the lost won to Jesus Christ both at home and overseas. This has led to local outreach programs and planting of three new churches in the greater Waterloo area on the one hand, and to the supporting of missionaries and missions projects both at home and on the foreign field. Today, First Baptist Church is a diverse congregation with people of all ages and from many different nations and ethnic backgrounds. It is affiliated with the Fellowship of Evangelical Baptist Churches in Canada and is an autonomous, self-governing New Testament local church. Our continuing purpose, therefore, is to glorify God by reaching: Upward in Worship and Prayer: This we accomplish by being God-centred, maintaining our relationship with Him as a priority through prayer and meaningful worship. Outward in Evangelism and Missions: This we do by being world-focused and reaching out to our community, nation and the world with the Good News of Jesus Christ. This means meeting people at their point of need in a creative and caring way and proclaiming the Gospel message in a positive, respectful but unashamed manner. Inward in Discipleship and Fellowship: This we realize by being people-friendly, providing natural, comfortable and creative ways for them to: Meet and enjoy each other Have external needs met Experience personal spiritual growth Discover our spiritual gifts and use them in ministry and service . This means that, led by the Spirit of God, we continue to seek to reach the lost for Jesus Christ in the greater Waterloo region through our local church ministries, and across Canada and around the world through our missions outreach program, where we support missionaries and missions projects in many countries.
First Baptist Church is a caring and loving place of worship with a heart for God and a strong focus on Bible teaching. It is a multi-cultural congregation, known for its friendly and welcoming community. The church offers various activities and programs for all ages, including children's classes and ministries. The members and leaders live out their faith and show love and reality through their actions.
