Société francophone de Maillardville, a non-profit organization, was founded in 1983. Its main purpose lies in the guidance and support of its association members and the eleven Francophone organizations, all of which developed into a community and cultural environment. Its role is to provide services and activities to the French-speaking region of Maillardville, Coquitlam and throughout the Lower Mainland which has about thirteen thousand Francophones. The Société francophone de Coquitlam is highly regarded for its commitment to preserving the French language and culture.
