Douglas Mennonite Church is a mid-sized congregation (about 300 people on Sunday morning) in northeast Winnipeg. Since its founding, children and youth have been a very important part of the congregation. In our early days, our focus was mainly on the children and youth who were already part of the congregation but in more recent years, our vision has expanded to include those children and youth in our neighbourhood who do not yet know Christ . A number of years ago we as a congregation adopted the following vision statement. We said that we believed that God was calling us: To love Him with all our heart, soul, mind and strength To invite large numbers of children and youth to faith in Jesus Christ and to train them for the work which God has given them To become a congregation which does not primarily look inward, but also looks outward in order to serve its neighbours and invite them to faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to participation in Christ’s church. There are a number of relationships which are very important to Douglas Mennonite Church. Douglas is a member and strong supporter of Mennonite Church Canada and Mennonite Church Manitoba. During the summer, many Douglas young people and others serve at Camps with Meaning. Throughout the year many older members serve at Mennonite Central Committee’s local thrift store. More recently we have partnered with Youth For Christ’s teen mother program and have also given significant support to Little Flowers, a new Anabaptist congregation in the West End of Winnipeg.
Customers frequently mention the inclusive and accepting atmosphere, excellent staff, and friendly people at Douglas Mennonite Church. The location is often praised for its convenience. The church is also noted for its good sermons.

Come In, Come In and Sit Down is the name of a song we use in worship from time to time. The words convey what we believe ~ what God believes: you are a part of the family, part of the family of God and part of the family of Trinity. Yes, even if this is the first time you walked through the door that is the way of God and the way of God’s people. We all belong. We all matter. In the busy pace most of us are caught up in, Trinity is a place where we can put the pieces of our life back together. It is a place where we can breathe deeply of God’s spirit, ask questions without the fear of being judged, and find a group of people ready to engage in the stuff that matters to us. Yes, no matter who you are, who you love, what you believe, you are invited to make connections with people who engage in spiritual practices and spiritual growth and who work for justice in the world. Blessings and peace be with you. Milly Malavsky mam.tuc@mymts.net Elizabeth Brown eliz.tuc@mymts.net Trinity United is part of The United Church of Canada.
