The First Open Heart Society was formed in 1973. The main objective was to provide support to those patients about to undergo heart surgery by those who have already walked the path. This Society consists of people in the Victoria area and other communities in British Columbia who have an interest in the cardiac field of health care and prevention. The First Open Heart Society Of British Columbia is an independent registered charitable non-profit organization dedicated to the support of open heart surgery patients and their families.
