Children with Intestinal and Liver Disorders (CH.I.L.D.) Foundation (Canada) is a federally registered organization located in Vancouver which was established in 1995 to fund research for children affected by Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis and liver disorders. We built BC's first research lab on the site of BC Children's Hospital aimed at finding a cure for these conditions. The Institute for Cross-cultural Exchange (ICE) is a Canadian charity dedicated to promoting cross-cultural education. It encourages learning about other cultures and understanding between them. Our current priority is to donate high quality illustrated folk tales from the Middle East and Central Asia to literacy programs helping children in need. ICE is administered and staffed entirely by volunteers. This means that at least 95% of donated funds go toward the printing and shipping of books for disadvantaged children. In just twelve years ICE has donated free of charge over 179, 000 books. Over 80 Canadian non-profit literacy groups will have received over 107, 000 books, six partner organizations in Afghanistan 71, 000 books, and our partner organization in Mexico 1140 books.

The Canadian Aboriginal AIDS Network (CAAN) is a not-for-profit coalition of individuals and organizations which provides leadership, support and advocacy for Aboriginal people living with and affected by HIV and AIDS, regardless of where they reside. The philosophy of this agency is that all Aboriginal people deserve the right to protect ourselves against infectious disease. Education and prevention is focused on empowerment as Aboriginal people are encouraged to learn about the risks of HIV and AIDS and protect ourselves accordingly. To provide Aboriginal people with accurate and up-to-date information about the nature of the disease, the risks of contracting it, and the issues of care/treatment and support for those infected is the challenge that CAAN employees and directors face each day of their involvement with the agency.
