By the time Roger Caron was 40 years-old, he had robbed 75 banks, spent 24 years in prison and escaped (AKA been a “Go-Boy!”) a record-breaking thirteen times. During that time he lived in a system where solitary confinement, corporal punishment, electric shock therapy and experimental medical procedures were all considered a means of “rehabilitation”. That he survived at all is remarkable. That he taught himself to write behind bars is extraordinary. That he went on to win Canada’s prestigious Governor General’s Award, is unbelievable. Go-Boy!: Memories of a Life Behind Bars is the feature documentary that brings Roger’s first-hand account of the brutality and depravity of prison to life. It took a lifetime of adversity for Roger Caron to learn his redemption was in the power of his words, not his guns.
