The Academy of Ophthalmic Education (AOE) was founded by the Khan family in 1996 and has since been providing high calibre and officially approved continuing education seminars, on both land and sea, to Optometrists, Opticians, Optometric Assistants, Ophthalmic Assistants and Optical Staff and Students. We are extremely proud to be the only organization in Canada wherein all varied eye care professionals participate and mingle under the same roof. When AOE hosted it’s very first Continuing Education Seminar back in 1996, admission was free to all participants. Since then, our registration numbers have been steadily growing. Although we can no longer offer free seminars, our aim throughout the years has been to provide the ophthalmic community the most competitive registration prices around without compromising the quality of lectures and speakers. We also continuously strive to offer special promotions, high-class venues and amazing food to provide our attendees with even more value. Another way of passing along the savings to our attendees is through the generous support of industry suppliers who participate in our Optifair Canada Trade Shows. The revenue generated through their sponsorships and participation allows us to subsidize registration costs. Our trade shows also allow our attendees to mingle with industry suppliers and keep in touch with the latest in trends and technology. Our faculty includes a host of respected Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and Opticians, many of who teach at the University of Toronto, Department of Ophthalmology and related Optometry schools throughout North America. AOE plays a major role in organized fundraising events for worthy organizations including ORBIS Canada, The Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Canadian Coalition of Eye Care Professionals. Our organization encourages and brings together all eye care professionals in hope of reaching the goal of eradicating blindness around the world by the year 2020.
