Established in 1977, the Saint-Laurent YMCA is a community centre that serves one of Montréal’s most multi-ethnic and socio-economically diverse neighbourhoods. To strengthen and bring the community together, it provides a host of much-needed multigenerational programs. Among other things, the Saint-Laurent YMCA offers subsidized daycare and a family resource centre, featuring a toy library and variety of development activities for toddlers. The Y also provides many services for young people, including a Youth Zone and guitar and voice lessons, as well as a variety of recreational activities and outings for seniors. In collaboration with the borough of Saint-Laurent, the centre has made its aquatic programming available to all neighbourhood residents. It is also home to the Gymslic gymnastics club.
