Review about Oakridge Custom Tailors, Vancouver
15 years ago
I have used Oakridge Tailors twice and both times have resulted in poor experiences. I was recommended to Joy by name for her quality work. The first time I brought in a brand new shirt, never worn, that I purchased in Europe to have the sleeves shortened. I got the shirt back with a fresh dot of machine oil on the collar. William became defensive when I mentioned this and he exclaimed it was impossible for them to have caused it. I let it slide simply because I wasn't 100% it was their fault. This year I gave them another chance by having my previously shortened sleeves on my wool jacket lengthened. (The previously shortened sleeves were my fault and not done at Oakridge tailors.) The jacket fit well, however, upon closer inspection, the workmanship was very poor. The sewing was uneven, there were loose threads and the fabric was misaligned. When I casually mentioned this, again, William became defensive and told me "You can't see the inside anyways". Not the comment I would expect from a quality tailor. If Mercedes or BMW took this approach you would end up with an American car. I was then lectured about how Joy was trained in Europe and does only the best work. I think I can be the judge of that thank you very much. They did little to turn the situation around and instead added fuel to the fire. Joy told me she has so many customers she didn't care if I left unhappy and told people about my experiences. William outright told me not to come back if I was unhappy. During this time, no effort was made to correct the issue. I gave Oakridge Tailors a second chance and they put the nail in the coffin. I won't be coming back and I would NOT recommend people go to Oakridge Tailors with the condescending attitude both Joy AND William gave me on two separate occasions. I do NOT recommend Oakridge Tailors to prospective clients.
