Registered Midwives are health professionals who provide primary care to women and their babies during pregnancy, labour, birth and the postpartum period. As primary care providers, midwives may be the first point of entry to maternity services, and are fully responsible for clinical decisions and the management of care within their scope of practice. Midwives provide the complete course of low-risk prenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care, including physical examinations, screening and diagnostic tests, the assessment of risk and abnormal conditions, and the conduct of normal vaginal deliveries. Midwives work in collaboration with other health professionals and consult with or refer to medical specialists as appropriate. The midwifery model of care promotes normal birth, enables women to make informed choices, and provides continuity of care and support throughout the childbearing experience. Midwives attend births in hospitals, birth centres and at home.
Customers praise the compassionate, understanding, and patient approach of the midwives at East Ottawa Midwives. They appreciate the individualized care and support throughout their pregnancy, labor, and postpartum period. Midwives are described as knowledgeable and empowering. The birth center experience is mentioned positively for its safety and comfort.

Background Established in 1980 and incorporated in 1982, the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County is a non-profit and charitable organization. It currently has 11 Volunteer Board of Directors, over 300 volunteers, as well as 25 staff members (full & part time). We are a dynamic local Alzheimer Society dedicated to serving the diverse needs of people living with dementia in Ottawa and Renfrew County. Our dedicated staff and passionate volunteers are driven by a clear mission, vision and values. We are very grateful for the base funding we receive from the Champlain Local Health Integration Network. We certainly could not do what we do without it. However, we still must raise about 60% of our budget from donations and fundraising endeavours. Client Satisfaction Almost 200 clients of the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County responded to a satisfaction survey about local Society programs and services offered during 2012 - 2013. Ninety-three percent of the respondents agreed that our services are accessible and informative.
