HISTORY ROTEL has been helping the community and visitors-in-need for 28 years. Primarily serving the communities of Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, ROTEL has also welcomed guests from all over Canada including Canadian military members from abroad. Years ago, the members of the Rotary Club of Ottawa South realized that with the development of several hospitals in the Ottawa area, out-of-town patients needing treatment could feel isolated and lonely. They knew, too, that having loved-ones close-by was proven to quicken the healing process. Unfortunately, there was nowhere affordable nearby for their family and friends to stay while visiting them at the hospital. The Rotary Club decided to build a nearby, low-cost motel to solve this problem. RELATIONSHIP TO HOSPITALS Our convenient, affordable motel is a welcoming place where hospital staff can confidently refer out-of-town families and friends of hospital patients. Specialized hospital clinic staff can do the same with traveling outpatients. These specialized clinics (otherwise known as tertiary hospitals or specialized hospitals) care for patients who live both nearby and hundreds of miles away. We are located near several specialized hospitals including: Ottawa Hospital General Campus, Civic Campus, and CHEO. DONATE Where do the donations go? The nightly room rate and donations are applied to staffing, ongoing operating costs, repairs, and a capital fund to cover major repairs or additions. ROTEL is strictly non-profit and Board of Directors positions are staffed by volunteers. All donations are greatly appreciated.

Causeway Foundation was established in 1998 and fundraises to support Causeway Work Centre’s programs and services and maintain and improve the building at 22 O’Meara St, Ottawa. In 2012, Causeway Foundation was accepted into the Imagine Canada Ethical Code Program. Variety of offerings included sandwiches, salads, and desserts, which were described as amazing, amazingly tasty, and delicious. Staff were friendly, helpful, and beyond excellent. Affordable and convenient service with consistent reliability. Food quality was excellent and service was commended for helping in the success of events.

Special Interest Groups are agencies of the Association for Bahá’à Studies, which itself is an agency of the National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahá’Ăs of Canada. Both the Association and its Special Interest Groups are structured as membership organisations with appointed administrators. Both exist to stimulate scholarly study of the Faith and its teachings, to promote a sound understanding of the Cause in academic circles, to demonstrate its relevance to the study of social issues, and to stimulate an appetite for learning within the Bahá’à community generally. In order to serve these purposes, the specific goals of the Special Interest Group system are as follows: to promote networking among ABS members, based on their interests, fields and professions; to mentor students and young people, in their studies and early professional life; to encourage, inspire and facilitate individual and collaborative Bahá’à scholarship; and to support, as appropriate, members’ “outward looking orientation” within their respective fields and professions, with particular emphasis on universities.

The Ottawa Rotary Home exists to improve the quality of life of caregivers and individuals with disabilities through a family and person-centered approach that is responsive to individual needs and offered in a dynamic and flexible way. We offer a variety of respite programs for different groups. Respite means something different to every family. However, most visits to Rotary Home are between a few days to a week or two in length. These breaks give the parents or caregivers a chance to rest and rejuvenate while their child has a fun time with our caring and professional staff. Our general admission policy is a child, youth, or adult who has a physical disability or complex medical need. Many of our clients have multiple disabilities requiring specialized care.
