Tracy Johnson MSW, RSW is a registered clinical Social Worker, providing counselling and psychotherapy for a wide range of concerns. She has specialized training and expertise in the areas of trauma and abuse. Tracy has been in the field for the past 15 years. In addition to her private practice, her employment history and experience includes working in hospital Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Care Centres for over 13 years, as well as providing counselling in a family agency. Tracy uses a client-centered approach in her work, firmly believing that all people with whom she has the privilege to collaborate have skills and strengths for survival, growth and change. She meets each person in the unique place they are at, recognizing and responding to their needs from a holistic framework. If you choose to do counselling with Tracy, she can explore with you the messages you are holding that may be causing difficulties for you. Together, you can look at the different ways that painful experiences may be impacting your emotions, your thoughts, your body, your spirit, and/ or your relationships, depending on your specific situation. Exploring the ways that you are already coping will also be an important piece of your work together, as well as talking about how you can do more of those things that are already working in your life. In addition to providing psychotherapy, Tracy also engages in research; offers workshops and seminars around a variety of issues, such as the short and long term impacts of sexual assault; and supervises MSW students. She has held a status appointment as an Adjunct Lecturer with the Faculty of Social Work at the University of Toronto, as well. Tracy is committed to ongoing professional development and continuing education.
