Our Story Established in 2005, New Circles is a not-for-profit social service agency that helps residents of Flemingdon Park, Thorncliffe Park and Victoria Village who need our support. New Circles was founded on two programs, the Clothing Program and Holiday Angel Program, which continue to be cornerstones of the work we do today. Our founder and Board of Directors member, Cindy Blakely envisioned a welcoming space, where low income residents could access basic necessities with dignity and respect. New Circles continues to meet that vision and has expanded to include a range of programs offering connections and opportunities for skills development to community members. The focus of Roots of Empathy in the long term is to build capacity of the next generation for responsible citizenship and responsive parenting. In the short term, Roots of Empathy focuses on raising levels of empathy, resulting in more respectful and caring relationships and reduced levels of bullying and aggression. Part of our success is the universal nature of the program; all students are positively engaged instead of targeting bullies or aggressive children.

Pollution Probe is a Canadian charitable environmental organization that is a leading agent of change at the intersection of communities, health and environment. Since 1969, we have been defining environmental problems through research, promoting understanding through education and pressing for practical solutions through advocacy. We are a partnership-building organization that engages government agencies, private businesses and other non-profit organizations that have a legitimate interest in an issue to help us find solutions. We are also a donor-based organization, and maintain a practical, independent perspective by drawing upon the financial support of a broad spectrum of individuals. We seek to represent the needs of the general public by working to make visible the needs of all, as distinct from the needs of interested parties, in finding environmental solutions.
