Vanleena provides dance education to students of all ages and ability. Our artistic vision is one of innovation and creativity - leading each student in achieving their personal goals in dance and the performing arts. We are a performing school and as such, we believe that an essential part of dance training is performance on stage in front of an audience; we aim to produce entertaining and polished productions that includes all our dancers. Vanleena offers the following training: Traditional Division Performing Division Ballet Studies - Royal Academy of Dance Pre-Professional Half Day Program Classes in the Traditional Division are designed to introduce the student to dance - in a fun lighthearted atmosphere. All classes have set objectives and students are expected to bring their best energy and attitude to each class. All students in the Traditional Division are welcome to join special events during the year and are expected to perform in the year end recital, "On Stage." For dancers wanting a more comprehensive dance experience, the Performing Division offers a complete curriculum of classes. These exciting and challenging classes require dedication and commitment from both the dancers and parents. Placement is by audition or invitation. Ballet classes are a prerequisite to all performing groups and must be taken concurrently with all performing classes. The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus is taught at Vanleena. All students enrolled in RAD classes are expected to take part in RAD exams in spring. The majority of ballet classes are accompanied by a live pianist. Admission to this program is by audition only. Vanleena Dance Academy is a nurturing and supportive dance community in North Vancouver, praised for its caring environment and diverse dance offerings including the RAD Ballet program. Students and parents express confidence in the professional and artistic standards, and many speak of gains in confidence and new friendships.

We have 4 air conditioned studios and offer all types of classes for both recreational as well as competitive students (aged 2-18). Most classes are 45 minutes or one hour in length, but there are some half hour classes for the younger ones. We teach from Monday to Sunday from September to June. There is a year-end show in June that all of the children participate in. We have a staff of highly qualified, wonderful teachers to nurture your children through their dance years. We try to keep the class sizes from between nine to fifteen children in each class; depending on the day and time, some classes are much smaller.
