About Olivet Baptist Church is a Christian community that worships in the heart of New Westminster. We do this by being a community who commit ourselves to each other before the Lord to become the people of God in the community of New Westminster and wherever God calls us to live and serve. Sunday Morning Our Sunday morning worship service is at 10:30 a. Olivet Kids (our Sunday School) and Nursery Care is held during the service. Following the service, the congregation and visitors gather in Olivet Hall for coffee, tea, and other refreshments. Accessibility Olivet is completely wheel-chair accessible, with entrance through the tower entrance. There is a ramp leading down to washrooms for those disabled, adjacent to the church school classrooms, and an elevator can take a wheelchair up to Olivet Hall, with its mixing area, kitchen, and accessible washroom. Parking All parking is on-street. There is FREE parking at City Hall, upper parking lot (6th Street) until 12:30 p. Visitors and seniors are encouraged to park on 7th Street where portable signs are in place.

Fr. Leon Fouquet OMI the founder of the Parish and a Professor of Theology arrived in 1860 and after two months of searching in the Fraser Valley and the Okanagan chose New Westminster for a site for a new mission, with Hope as an outpost. In 1934, after the old church on Blackwood Street was badly damaged by a gale in October, St. Patrick Hall (later Dontenwill Hall) was used as a church. The first Mass was celebrated in the new church on 4th Street and Royal Avenue on Palm Sunday April 2nd 1939. Since the arrival in 1860 of Fr. Fouquet, many Oblate priests and brothers have faithfully served the parish as pastors, chaplains, teachers, counsellors, sacristans, builders, plumbers, bookkeepers, cooks and gardeners.
