For nearly 40 years, Volunteer Nanaimo has been serving the community and Non-profit organizations in the greater Nanaimo area. Volunteer Nanaimo is a multi-service volunteer centre and provides several programs for Nanaimo Volunteer and Information Centre Society. The Nanaimo Volunteer and Information Centre Society (NVICS), also known as Volunteer Nanaimo, has been acting as the central hub of the Non Profit and Volunteering Community here in Nanaimo since 1979. Volunteer Nanaimo is a social service organization making a positive impact in the Nanaimo community through various services, including community income tax services, the Youth Network, and the Angel Network. Our Vision Statement St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church as community in Jesus Christ, foresees living out its faith by engaging the local neighbourhood and its culture, with God’s guidance and provision. Our Mission Statement We will share the Love of Jesus Christ through activities and programs that will feed hearts, minds, bodies and souls, encouraging everyone to be a part of our family in Christ Jesus. The Presbyterian Church organizes itself and makes decisions through a body of elected members of the church, called Session. Members of Session are elected every two years and “sit as an elder” for a six year (renewable) term. Session is responsible for the Vision, Mission and Spiritual direction of the church. Day-to-day operations and decision making is dealt with by Ministry Teams, for which Session members are representatives to. Services 9:00 a. Family Worship Service (September - June) 11:00 a. Traditional Family Worship Service (September - June) 10:00 a. Joint Services (every Sunday of July and August) Communion Services are the first Sunday of the month. The Nanaimo Discovery Centre is a community resource, primarily run on contributions with limited staff.
