In 1833, Henry Thomas and his wife Sarah, with their two year old baby boy, Edward, sailed from Devonshire, England. When Edward was 25 years old, he started a construction company. His first project was to build a United church in Bareneed in 1856. This is the year the company was established and it was located in Rawlins cross.
