Although it is most commonly referred to as “KCI, ” Kitchener–Waterloo Collegiate & Vocational School began as the Berlin Grammar School in 1855. Now, 160 years later, KCI is truly an essential and integral part of Kitchener-Waterloo. The facility has seen significant change throughout those 160 years – perhaps the most significant are the recent ION construction and service upgrades to King Street. We are known and recognized as a welcoming and inclusive school that supports and works diligently to include all. Together, students, staff, and community are “ONE KCI.” As part of ONE KCI, we fundraise money for a wide range of local and national charities. Each December our annual Community Dinner, organized entirely by students and supported by staff and parent volunteers as well as community partners, provides a hot meal, entertainment, and prizes to hundreds of challenged individuals from our community.
