The Sexual Assault Support Centre of Waterloo Region (SASC) is a community-based, social profit organization. We offer services and support to people and their families who have experienced sexual violence. We provide individual and group counselling, a 24 Hour Support Line, client advocacy, and accompaniments for those navigating court, police, and medical processes. In addition to support services, we are committed to preventing gender-based violence through public education. Since January 2008, the Public Education program at SASC has housed our Male Allies Against Sexual Violence (MAASV) program. The MAASV program offers Waterloo Region a unique and proactive anti-violence initiative. Through public education, the MAASV program invites men and boys to be leaders in the work of ending gender-based violence. Our goal is to encourage critical introspection in men and boys, which begins by helping them to understand gender-based violence as a men's issue. Over the past seven years, we have trained over one hundred men in Waterloo Region. In addition, thousands of other men and boys participate in MAASV workshops on an annual basis.

Extend-A-Family Waterloo Region (EAFWR) came into being in 1981, founded by a group of parents who wanted their sons and daughters who had developmental disabilities to have friends and be included in their community. Out of this beginning came two foundational values, our commitment to inclusion and the recognition of the importance of relationships in the lives of those we serve. A deep respect for the knowledge and expertise that is held by families underlies our desire to work in partnership with them, to work alongside and together with the families and adults we serve. This desire extends to working in partnership with others in the community. Our approach is person-centred, focused on the person we serve first and foremost paying close attention to their dreams, needs, abilities, hopes and contributions. As an organization, Board and Staff, we believe strongly in Servant Leadership. We embrace continuous learning about how to improve the ways in which we serve and we believe and act in ways that are respectful and anti-oppressive. Thank you for allowing us to serve you. The organization receives the majority of its funding from the Ministry of Community and Social Services (MCSS) and the Ministry for Child and Youth Services (MCYS) and is governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of supported families and community members.
