The Kamloops and District Dental Society is a non-profit organization registered under the Societies Act in August of 1983. The goals of the society are: -to encourage fraternal relationships among its members; -to strive for high standards of excellence in dental practice; -to more effectively serve the interests of the community; -to more effectively relate to other dental organizations. Dentists from any area of the province are welcome to join the KDDS. Our focus, however, is the city of Kamloops and outlying communities such as Chase, Salmon Arm, Merritt, Logan Lake, Clearwater, Hundred Mile and others.

The Métis Commission for Children and Families of BC was incorporated as a non-profit society under the British Columbia Society Act on September 20, 1999. Under the leadership of the original 6 Commissioners the Métis Commission was established as a non-political body to advise governments with regard to services for Métis children and families in British Columbia. These individuals included: Margaret Clement, Sharon Coflin, Keith Jager, Gary McDermott, Robert Simmonds and Tammy Sloan. Today, the Métis Commission is identified within provincial legislation as the designated Metis community for children, youth and families within the child welfare system throughout British Columbia. Through this legislation, the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) has a legal obligation to notify the Métis Commission when a Métis child is involved with the child welfare system for any reason.
