The South House (SoHo) is Halifax's only full time gender justice centre. We are a volunteer driven, student funded, gender inclusive safe space for ALL members of our community. We are a trans-and queer-positive space and are proud to offer a wheelchair accessible space. We offer a resource centre, library, and free meeting space for woman-positive and anti-oppression organizing and gathering.

Spencer House Seniors’ Centre was officially opened on June 23, 1983 by its two founding members Doreen Fraser and Ida Zifkin. Our centre is named after the late Lady Diana Spencer. After a visit by Prince Charles and Princess Diana to Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1983, it was decided that the new organization would be named after the Princess in tribute to the Royal Visit and to express the admiration and affection of the seniors towards the Princess. Our goal is to provide the services and programs which enable older adults to live independently, contribute to their community and maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. Spencer House Senior Centre is a popular social hub for seniors with affordable lunch options and various engaging activities such as bingo, chair exercises, karaoke, and dances. Members enjoy companionship and try new things in a cozy and welcoming environment.

Baptist Church with adult sunday school, nursery, vacation Bible care, etc. We offer childcare during church events, and have a mom and baby group that meets Tuesday afternoons, but there is no longer a daycare centre at this location. West End United Baptist Church is a beautiful, old wooden building with a warm and welcoming congregation. The people are described as friendly, accommodating, warm, welcoming, funny, high energy, caring, down to earth, incredible, and family-like. The preaching is on point and based on the Bible and Jesus. There are various weekly groups and activities for all ages. Coffee is always available.
