The Law Foundation is a body that grants funds to many different groups for projects connected with the law. It was established in 1976 by a Nova Scotia statute, on the recommendation of the lawyers in the province. The Law Foundation's funds are derived from the interest earned on lawyers' general trust accounts. If you purchase a house through a lawyer, or carry out other business through a lawyer's office, your lawyer will frequently hold your money in trust. It your money is being held for a short time, it may be placed in your lawyer's general trust account, and the interest on your money will be paid to the Law Foundation.

Activities are the fun things we do as a club, such as mineral theme nights, guest speakers, and field trips. This section of the web site is meant to both promote upcoming activities and be a record of past events. In recent years we've had presentations on global positioning systems, mineral preparation, crystallography, pseudomorphs, fossils of Blue Beach, fluorescent minerals, the Pinch Mineral Collection, minerals from Italy, Illinois fluorite, geology of the southwest U.S.A., and caves of West Virginia; had a tour of the N.S. Museum's mineral collection; as well as held several mineral auctions and watched videos about dinosaurs and caves.

History of UNSM’s Municipal Sustainability Office As the impacts of climate change and other environmental issues become more evident, an increasing number of municipalities are recognizing the need to take steps to increase their sustainability. To assist municipalities in becoming leaders in sustainability, UNSM, with support from Infrastructure Canada, established the Municipal Sustainability Office in 2007. By addressing priority issues, such as climate change and energy conservation, municipalities are not only reducing their energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, but are being rewarded by economic, social and environmental benefits. As municipalities take incremental steps now to increase their capacity to address sustainability issues, they are making it easier for future generations to cope with inevitable change.
