Our mission at The Guelph Academy of Dance is to provide dancers with an intimate atmosphere where students flourish under professional instruction . We are a non-competitive art focused dance school where the emphasis is placed on pursuing the art form, enjoyment, and proper training, not on competition. Our qualified and experienced instructors will work to enhance each student’s confidence, strength, and love of movement. In 2014ur studio was delighted to offer classes to over 400 dancers each week having grown from 75 in 2006. We are thrilled to announce that in 2014 The Guelph Academy of Dance has won the Platinum Award for BEST DANCE STUDIO according to the Guelph Tribune’s Reader’s Choice Awards. In the past we have been voted gold as Best Dance Studio and in 2011 we were voted Diamond as Best Dance Studio according to the Guelph Tribune and 2012 we were voted gold for Favorite Dance Studio by the readers of the Guelph Mercury. Our director, Briana Lynch, has been repeatedly voted Favorite Dance Teacher in 2010 and 2012 according to the Guelph Mercury. The GYD Company was formed in 2008, by Janet Johnson and Catrina von Radecki as a means of further celebrating, enhancing and training young dancers. Now in our 8th year of the Guelph Youth Company, we have some very strong, talented, ambitious and highly creative dancers who perform together regularly in events such as Hillside Inside (Guelph), DanceOntario Weekend (Toronto), Art Harvest (London), Carousel Dance Centre (Waterloo) and in a variety of locations in Guelph including the Guelph Dance Festival.
