The location on 88th Avenue has been a place of active Christian ministry in North Delta since 1944. However, the origins of that beginning find their roots in a heartache of that time. A Japanese community centre once existed on the property, until 1941, when Japanese-Canadians were interned in camps and their properties expropriated. Across Canada, Japanese-Canadians lands were resold, and in 1944 a Mennonite Brethren Church purchased the current property. We seek to make it a place of community, not division; healing, not pain; a place where race or background is not seen as a liability, but the gift they really are. As part of our hope to serve in this place, we make our building available for a number of agencies in the community, and seek to work with those who want to make a difference in our neighbourhood.
