My mother had a stroke at the beginning of this project. Client was notified and informed that family came first. Client chose to continue with project. My sister requested on 3 separate occasions that I return to Northern Ontario to assist her. 3 months into the project my mother died. To compensate for the untimely delays, I hired a new SAIT graduate. Unfortunately he did a lousy job and was subsequently fired. Client made numerous changes and demands which required drawings to be started over at no additional cost to client. Fees were reduced to appease client. I apologized numerous times and these events were outside of my control; however client could not let go of the past. My father suddenly passed away 3 months after my mother's death. I recommended that client retain a different designer; he refused but demanded electronic AutoCAD files. The death of both my parents within a short time affected me greatly, had difficulty functioning on a daily basis. Client notified me by email that he was retaining another designer while I was enroute to my father's funeral.
