The Telecommunication Workers Pension Plan is a defined benefit plan established January 1, 1975 for employees covered by the Telecommunications Workers Union Collective Bargaining Agreement and BC Telecom and Associated Subsidiaries. The Plan is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of eight persons, four named by the Union and four named by the Company. The Telecommunication Workers LTD Plan was established on January 1, 1992 to provide Long Term Disability benefit to bargaining unit members at TELUS in British Columbia. The Plan is governed by the same Board of Trustees on the TW Pension Plan. Previous to January 1, 1992 Long Term Disability was part of the Pension Plan. The Telecommunication Workers Benefit Plan and Trust Fund was established by the Telecommunications Workers Union to provide group benefit coverage for eligible TWU members. The Plan is governed by a Board of Trustees appointed by the TWU and comprised of TWU members. TWBP provides both group life insurance (PART B) and Short Term Disability benefits (PART C).

CUPE Local 7000 represents the workers at the BC Rapid Transit Company (SkyTrain Expo and Millennium Lines) and the Southern Railway of BC. The workers at BCRTC were not represented by a union until 1985. The Office and Technical Employees Union (now CUPE 378) represented the workers until 1989. In 1990 the workers voted to change to a ‘transit union’. The Independent Canadian Transit Union Local 7 was born. Shortly after in 1994 the Southern Rail workers left the Amalgamated Transit Union and joined ICTU Local 7. Through a series of legal issues the Independent Canadian Transit Union was dissolved and the workers at both properties voted to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees. On February 22nd 1999 CUPE Local 7000 was formed.
