Midwifery Services of Durham was established in 1994 at the time when midwifery became legislated in Ontario. Midwifery Services of Durham provides complete low-risk prenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care by our midwives that have many years of combined experience in midwifery care. The midwives and student midwives in the practice are all registered with the College of Midwives of Ontario and are affiliated, as a teaching practice, with the Ontario Midwifery Education Program. Our focus is on caring for mothers and babies in different settings, and a shared respect for childbearing women, their families and communities. Midwifery Services of Durham provides care to women who live in the South York and Durham Region, with hospital privileges at Markham Stouffville Hospital.

Our club is unique as it offers a variety of activities for our members. We have structured lessons (ie. Chess openings, tactics, strategies, traps etc.), special presentations and guest speakers, house league games, Club tournaments, Open tournaments, community events, chess crafts and more. Please check our calendar for these events. Tournaments are for fun competitive chess play that allows players to guage their development. Club tournaments include Blitz, Chess 960 and Seven-11 are held on club nights. Chess is certainly a brain exercise. Like any exercise we get better the more we play, thus promoting self confidence. None is too old or young to learn either. Our online community allows people to meet and share their games with other chess players in our area. You can create new events, invite friends and do so much more. It’s like your own local chess community from the comforts of your home.

Community Development Council Durham (CDCD) was established in 1970 as the Social Planning Council of Ajax-Pickering and in 2003 we changed our name to better reflect our growing mandate to serve all of the communities in Durham Region. Islamic Society of Ajax was started from the basement of a house in 2005. In 2013, Allah (SWT) blessed the community with a 3.2 acre land having two structures. Alhamdulillah, worship zoning permit has been acquired and now the project is in its last stages to acquire the occupancy permit. Warehouse has been turned into Masjid where more than 1000 Musallis could perform their prayer. This is the first Masjid in the town of Ajax. This is the project which started with zero dollar and zero resources. Another Miracle of Allah (SWT)! This Islamic Society of Ajax is highly regarded by many for its peaceful and welcoming atmosphere. The community is active, with knowledgeable and friendly leaders. The mosque offers ample parking and is often described as beautiful and nice. Some visitors have mentioned the importance of knowing Jummah timings. One reviewer mentioned the need for multiple parking lot exits for efficient traffic flow.
