The NWT SPCA is a non-profit, charitable, volunteer Board-ran organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for all domesticated animals in the NORTH. We do this through general public education and awareness, relationship building in communities and partnering with organizations outside and within the NWT. We are pleased to offer various programs and services to the residents in the NWT. These services include animal rescue and protection initiatives, Pet Food and Supplies for Communities Program, adoption and fostering, and various volunteer shelter programs. We also offer a Community spay/neuter program partnering with Great Slave Animal Hospital. We are proud to say we opened our first animal shelter in October 2012 and continue to complete, improve and build on the facility and the programs we offer. The NWTSPCA in Yellowkife is highly regarded by its customers for its dedicated and loving staff who go above and beyond for the animals. The organization is appreciated for its accommodating attitude and acceptance of donations. Many mention the gorgeous animals they have encountered, suggesting the high caliber of care provided.

The Yellowknife Association for Community Living (YKACL) is a non-profit organization that supports families, children, youth, and adults with intellectual disabilities so that they are included and are able to contribute to community life in Yellowknife. Inclusion activities are part of all our programming and the focus of the Association and we often forget to celebrate the daily events that promote the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in our community and the signs that our community cares and supports inclusion. As well, the Yellowknife Association for Community Living is part of the 400 member federation making up the Canadian Association for Community Living (CACL) .
