The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs (AMC) was formed in 1988 to act as an advocate on issues that commonly affected all of the First Nations of Manitoba. At the time when AMC began, there were 61 recognized Manitoba First Nations consisting of 64, 315 First Nation citizens. Today, there are 64 First Nations, with a total of 136, 616 (May 2011) First Nation citizens making up 11% of the provincial population. AMC’s primary focus is political but will also fill in gaps that cannot be bridged by regional services. Two examples are the Eagle’s Nest, which helps First Nations youth return to school, and the Patient Advocate Unit which helps First Nations patients navigate Manitoba’s health care system.

Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s largest not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about business. With over 120 charters world wide, JA brings a global view of business to local communities. Since 1963 Junior Achievement of Manitoba (JAMB) has partnered with educators, donors and volunteers to bring a real world experience into the classroom. Our programs give students in grades 3-12 the confidence and skills they need to become the next generation of business and community leaders. In 1963 Junior Achievement of Manitoba was introduced to Winnipeg, Manitoba by four businessmen entrepreneurs J. Shore, D. A Pollard, N. Alexander and F. P. Heffelfinger. In 1979, the province granted a franchise to Junior Achievement of Manitoba Inc. Junior Achievement of Manitoba offers five business education programs, delivered at no cost to elementary, middle and high school students (grades 3 - 12). More than 150 schools throughout Manitoba participate in JA every year. Delivered by local volunteers, JA programs enable young people to develop essential life skills through exposure to interactive activities and innovative business solutions.
