First there was the St-Boniface Hospital, then the St-Boniface Hospital Foundation, and then came St-Boniface Hospital Research Centre – now the St-Boniface Hospital Albrechtsen Research Centre… an ever-evolving research campus including the Andrei Sakharov MRI Centre and the Asper Research Institute. Together they create and maintain a tradition of excellence in medical care, education, and research. The St-Boniface Hospital is Western Canada’s first hospital. It was founded in 1871 by the Grey Nuns, a religious congregation inspired by Mother Marguerite D’Youville.
