Family Literacy Centre design and deliver free literacy programs to the public to empower learners of all ages. We work with people of all ages and diverse organizations to develop skills that workers and leaders need. Founded in 2004, we are a registered non-profit organization dedicated to supporting literacy and essential skills in the Yukon. We run the Family Literacy Centre, a free, drop-in learning centre that features trained staff, exciting daily programs, a vast library and stimulating toys and activities. The FLC operates out of the Canada Games Centre (Sept-May) and the Pioneer Hotel at Shipyards Park (June-Aug). We offer workshops on financial literacy that teach Yukoners strategies to better manage their money. We conduct and participate in regional and national research projects to better understand our literacy needs in the north.
