Central Nova (Truro) Wesleyan dates back to 1948, when Rev. Norman Trafton held the first services in Truro at what was known as the Reformed Baptist Church. For 18 years, the church operated under this name until 1966, when we joined with the Wesleyan Methodist Church. In 1968, we again merged, this time with the Pilgrim Holiness Church and we then became known as the Wesleyan Church. In 1988, under the leadership of Rev. Denn Guptill, the church underwent a major building project, adding a new, modern sanctuary onto the existing church building that seats approximately 200+ people. We currently have an average attendance of 90 people each Sunday morning. In 2009, the original portion of our building - which had been the church prior to 1988 - was torn down, in part to make way for additional parking. We are a part of the Wesleyan denomination ( ), which has churches throughout the world (90 countries), and attendance of approximately 500, 000. Our local district ( ) - which includes the Atlantic provinces and Maine - has 60+ churches and approximately 10, 000 worshippers each Sunday morning. In December of 2013, we celebrated our 65th anniversary, as well as the 25th anniversary of being in our current facility.
The Wesleyan Church is praised for its warm welcoming community, great gospel teachings, and lovely worship music. Some customers shared their experiences of repentance and baptism. Pastor is described as personable and welcoming.
