I'm a criminal lawyer. I represent adults and young persons, many of who are Indigenous or vulnerable defendants, in proceedings before the trial and appeal courts as well as related inquests, public inquiries or tribunals such as the Ontario Review Board or Parole Board of Canada. My law practise also includes the representation of others with significant interests in the criminal justice system including complainants and victims of crime. I'm also a founding director of Innocence Canada, a non-profit organization that has done so much to identify and seek justice for people convicted for crimes that they did not commit and I'm involved in a number of justice system reform initiatives. You can often find me speaking at legal education conferences, schools or community events because the defence never rests.
