Originally A & C Games started out as a convenience store in 1998 run by Chang Toy just south of Bloor St and Spadina Ave. Chang’s brother Gar helped run the store whenever he could while attending high school and college. The Toy brothers tried to add new ways to attract people to their store such as adding Soccer Jerseys and Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards but failed to succeed. Some time went by until the two brothers decided to try something they both liked, retro video games. Both Chang and Gar grew up playing retro video games, some of them include the Commodore 64, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Sega Saturn and many others. The convenience store put out a sign on the door that stated “we’re buying video games” and the rest is now history. A & C now has the biggest selection of video games in Toronto and continues to grow each day.
