Barbara Starr, owner of Terra Cotta Clothing Design, is an award winning designer, production supervisor, product developer and mentor to emerging fashion designers; who has been involved in the clothing industry since her teenage years. A graduate of University of California - Los Angeles, Barbara opened Terra Cotta Clothing in L. in 1985. Following a relocation to Toronto Canada in 1990, she opened up Terra Cotta Clothing as a production studio with a retail store near Yonge St. and Eglington Ave. After an extended period in the trendy Queen West neighborhood, Barbara and Terra Cotta Clothing now calls the up and coming Junction Triangle neighborhood home. Barbara continues to be the product developer for labels such as MIIK Inc. (www.ca), Cabaret Vintage Bridal (www. CabaretVintage.com) and 49th Apparel (www.49thapparel. In addition to these successes she continues to produce her own very successful Terra Cotta line, which can be found for sale in her own studio as well as Luvly in Lunenburg (www.luvly.ca) and Zade Jones Studio in Toronto. A strong believer in sharing her creative knowledge Barbara not only teaches private lessons to several eager students, she has also acted a mentor young fashion professionals for several years. Through this mentorship program Barbara has ushered in the careers of Chloe Gordon of Beaufille (www.beaufille.com) and Michelle Watson of Michi (www.michiny.
