Since 1913, the Toronto homeless charity Evangel Hall Mission has been reaching out to persons suffering from homelessness, poverty and social isolation. After recognizing the high levels of poverty, it soon began addressing the pressing need to alleviate the problems by offering a drop-in centre and soup kitchen. Today, ehm has evolved into a community agency delivering programs that deal with poverty and homelessness, offering a continuum of care from emergency food, clothing and shelter to transitional and long-term housing.

Since 2001, CCAN has served as an umbrella organization dedicating to connecting member organizations from across Canada to work underway in cancer control. Today, CCAN represents the views and interests of diverse member organizations working together in support of the innovative “CCAN Collaborative Model of Engagement, ” an approach that serves as a virtual bridge to connect organizations across Canada to one another ensuring work underway in cancer control moves forward in unison. CCAN is an organization that believes in the value of collaboration. With continued funding in 2014-2016 from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, and working under one umbrella, the Canadian patient community is measurably influencing change and accelerating action, contributing to an improved health-care system for all Canadians. In 2016, the Ontario Arts Foundation will be celebrating 25 years of serving the arts and artists in Ontario. Our partners in this endeavour have been philanthropists and patrons of the arts who have set up funds and served on our board of directors, various levels of government through matching funds, and the arts organizations themselves. As these funds have borne fruit, artists have been encouraged and recognized through awards and scholarships, and their projects brought to life through the arts organizations which also benefitted in the course of making provision for their future needs. As we plot our course over the next twenty-five years, we are passionately committed to working towards the increased stability of the arts infrastructure in Ontario, giving our artists the deep foundations they need to reach for the stars and reflect the multifaceted aspects of our collective spirit.
