Nancy completed law degrees in both common law and civil law at McGill University and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2003. At McGill, she nurtured an interest in public law and both domestic and international human rights. She also holds an honours philosophy degree from the University of Ottawa. Nancy started her law practice in March 2005 in order to fill a need for lawyers practicing in the area of prison law and nurture an interest in inmates rights. Currently, her practice is focused mostly on both prison law and child protection. As a prison lawyer, she appears before the Parole Board of Canada (PBC) previously named the National Parole Board (NPB), the Ontario Parole Board(OPB), the Superior Court, the Divisional Court, the Court of Appeal, and the Federal Court. She also does parole appeals before both the PBC and the OBP. Most of Nancy's litigation files are in relation to claims against the federal or provincial government on behalf of inmates. She act as duty counsel at Warkworth Institution where she provides assistance in disciplinary court and provide inmates with general advice. Nancy generally travels within a two hour radius of Toronto for the purpose of parole hearings or other prison law matters. She will travel as far as Kingston in special circumstances including an inmate requiring assistance with a parole hearing in French. As a child protection lawyer Nancy is passionate about advocating on behalf of parents who are motivated to regain responsibility for parenting their children. Previous to that she articled in the Policy Branch of the Ministry of the Attorney General of Ontario. In both positions Nancy assisted
