Nationally designated for its magnificent interior, Annandale House serves as a monument to the Victorian style of design, known as the "Aesthetic Art Movement". Popularized by Oscar Wilde, this movement encouraged the use of colour and decorative detailing in all areas of the home. From extravagant, hand-painted ceilings and elaborate inlaid floors to ornate mantles, hinges and stained glass, Annandale House truly combines the best of what the Aesthetes professed. Built in the 1880's by E.D. Tillson, first Mayor of Tillsonburg, Annandale House has been restored to its former glory. With a newer addition, the complex today serves the community as the museum and the tourist information centre. Visitors to the site can tour three floors of the house with its restored period rooms and history galleries, as well as, the main gallery with its changing displays. Special programs, group tours and buses are welcome! Light refreshments are available for groups and must be arranged in advance when booking your visit. The facility is totally accessible and parking is available on-site. Picnic tables located on the grounds.
