CMHA Parkland Region has offices in Swan River and Dauphin. The agency had its beginnings in 1987 when a group of interested citizens met in the Swan River Town Office in response to an advertisement calling for an organization of individuals concerned about the mental health system. The meeting consisted of friends and relatives who had a family member with a mental illness. In the fall of 1988 this small group decided to join the Canadian Mental Health Association and Swan Valley branch emerged. When the office in Dauphin was added in 2005 the board decided to add the name Parkland Region.
