Our program is based on the observations and discoveries made by Dr. Maria Montessori who was the first Italian physician to receive a Doctorate in Medicine from The University of Rome. Her desire to help children was so strong that in 1906 she gave up her university chair as well as her medical practice to work with young children. It was there that she founded the first Casa dei Bambini, or "Children's House, " which became the Montessori Method of education, which was based upon Montessori's scientific observations. Every piece of equipment, every exercise, every method Montessori developed was based on what she observed children to do naturally by themselves, unassisted by adults. The materials in the classroom were designed by Dr. Montessori and are still used in Montessori classrooms around the world today.
