I use theories and approaches from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, John Gottman's Couple Theory, Traumatic Incident Reduction from Meta Psychology. My approach is vey client centred and my hope is that you will learn incite into your issues while feeling a desired sense of relief from your stressors. Me My counselling pursuits began when I was a grade 10 student and my counsellor would throw me her keys to support a fellow student in her office. I then began life as a child care counsellor, I worked for 16 years in the Coquitlam and Burnaby School Districts, doing front line mediation and support with at risk adolescents. I gradually completed my B. in Child and Youth Care Counselling at UFV (Abbotsford). I could not ignore my original passion of becoming a full fledged counsellor. So at the ripe old age of 40 I completed my Masters in Counselling Psychology at the University of Victoria. Since 2008 I have been working with a non profit organization as a family counsellor. I support children and parents around re uniting their family (if possible). I am also a partner I have been married for over 20 years and continue to learn and work on how to enhance my relationship. I am also a parent of three children 2 boys aged 16 and 14 and a daughter aged 11. We have learned to enjoy activities as a family such as skiing and we are working on how to enjoy hiking together. I emphasize ‘working’ on because I believe relationships whether familial or intimate are continual works in progress. In my practice I have worked with primarily adults around trauma, (I use tools from TIR Traumatic Incident Reduction ), couple counselling (I use methods and tools from John Gottman’ s model ), addictions, depression, and anxiety.
