The Oak Avenue Neighbourhood Hub evolved out of the Mission Board of Oak Avenue United Church in 2004. The purpose of the Hub is to provide a range of services for people in the community as part of a continuum of support for all ages. The hub serves as a place for other organizations and agencies to offer programs and fosters a unified vision of promoting healthy community development. The SCB provides low-income families in the City of Surrey with the experience of a joyful Christmas celebration, through the Christmas Hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs. The Surrey Christmas Bureau (SCB) is the largest and busiest Christmas Bureau in British Columbia, serving over 1, 900 Surrey families and 5, 000 children in 2009. For over 40 years, the SCB has been helping low-income families, and children under the age of 15, celebrate Christmas through Christmas Hamper and Adopt-A-Family programs.
