The Peninsula Mission Community Church started almost 10 yers ago as a "Church Plant". The term “Church Plant” is a strange phrase; two words that seemingly do not go together. It conjures an image of someone sticking tiny buildings with steeples in the ground. Unfortunately, we often picture a church as a building, something static, not alive. The Bible’s view of a church, however, is of a living, growing, dynamic organism. The church, in the original language of the Bible, is not a building, but people; a “called-out assembly.” If we can begin to see a church like a cell -- a simple, living organism capable of growth and reproduction, it is much easier to understand the nature of a "Church Plant." At our inception, we believed that starting or planting a church is a normal and natural part of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. This "grass-roots" community has enabled us to fulfill Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all nations”
Peninsula Mission Community Church is a warm and hospitable place with friendly people and great Christian fellowship. The services are Spirit-filled and feature talented musicians. Potlucks offer delicious vegetarian food. The pastor is new, friendly, and down-to-earth.

We are a congregation of about 150 members, located in the beautiful seaside town of Sidney, BC. We have gathered at our present location for 90 years. We are in a time of transition. In the last year we completed a fresh assessment of our priorities for ministry and staffing. We identified: - reaching out to families in ways that assist them in addressing today’s challenges - deepening our involvement in social justice and environmental issues - becoming a gathering place for the community Like the town of Sidney itself, we are a congregation that has gathered people from far and wide, who have been drawn to the splendour of this area. So our congregation is rich and varied in experience and outlook. We are open to life, to newness, and responsive to grace. We are concerned for one another and for the world around us. Individually we are highly involved in the surrounding community. For some years now, as a congregation, we have been actively pursuing the possibility of redeveloping our church property to include some form of affordable housing. While we have encountered significant challenges, the possibilities are still being explored.
