The Bookworm has a magazine exchange program where you can trade your current magazines or pick from our collection and donate to charity. During the past year our customers have contributed over $400 towards various charities. Charities which benefited include: A Safe Place (Strathcona Shelter Society Ltd), Strathcona Christmas Bureau, Strathcona Food Bank, Missing Children Society of Canada, Canadian Cancer Society, Rwanda Development Program, Strathcona County Adult Literacy Program, the Sherwood Park Care Centre, the Youth Emergency Shelter, The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada, and the Cerebral Palsy Association of Alberta. Please note our guidelines in accepting gently used books: We accept books according to current store needs and client requests. We ask that books be clean and in very good condition. Because of limited space we can only take one copy of most titles and rarely accept fiction in hardcover. For books that we can accept, you will receive either 25% store credit or 10% cash of the cover price. Should you choose credit, you may either use the whole amount to purchase books in the store or if you prefer you may use the credit at another time. There is no expiry date on the credit.

Customers appreciate the well-organized and tidy space, and the knowledgeable owners who are helpful and accommodating. The store carries a range of titles, with a particular strength in women's fiction and romance. Some customers have noted limited hours and occasional cliquish behavior from staff. Overall, the positive experiences outweigh the negative.
